I purchased this GPS because I was sick of printing directions. We used this GPS on our family vacation up in the mountains of Western North Carolina and did not think it would…

Roadmate 1470 WOW!!!
I previously owned a Garmin 2620. I wanted to update to a larger screen and thus purchased the Garmin 7200. I loved the 7″ screen. The map was a 2007 series and thus too old.

Getting Lost with the RoadMate 1470
I have used multiple GPS units in the past (including Magellan, TomTom, and Garmin). The Magellan RoadMate 1470, like most other Magellan units I have used, has good usability…

do not purchase Magellan
Fragile products. Screen cracked spontaneously in mild PA temps. Curt, rude company employees offer no explination as to the indurability of their product.

Almost good
Product has three issues that should be considered in your buying decision:
1) Power connector is located at the bottom of the unit which is a serious design flaw…

Nice features, good price, great design.
I have to admit that I was a little hesitant but we have an older smaller (3.5″) Magellan that has really been great.

Firmwear is buggy and ver 1.10 update (released 7/2009) doesn’t fix it
The unit is Ok but I have spent HOURS on the phone trying to get one simple issue resolved. If you look at page 13 of the manual, you should be able to save a current location…

My husband and I liked this one!
My husband and I really liked this GPS. We also have a Garmin Nuvi 760, we liked some things about this Magellan a little better.
