I have had 4 different GPS units in the last 20 years, and this unit certainly has the quickest learning period (5 min or so!).

I have not actually used this but I have been attempting to learn it and do not find it easy to do. I am aware, however, that the battery life is not as long as I think it should be. I can’t actually say how long the battery lasts, but I have found that if I work with trying to figure out how to use it and leave it for a few hours, the battery life has diminished. If I leave it over night, it is practically depleted.

love my Garmin nuvi!!! it works great- i especially like the voice recognition feature. I use it for my business and this is the best gps i have bought!

The Garmin nuvi 850 is exactly what we were looking for. Works fairly good. This is the second time our credit card number has been compromised after purchasing an item through Amazon. Would recommend you use paypal instead.

We have been researching new GPS units on Amazon for several weeks. What a delight when this model became available (supposedly) on sale, as it was at the top of our “ready to purchase” list. The summary of reviews for the product indicated that it had the features that we wanted most and that the features that we did not want were mostly missing. Overall comments on performance and ease of usage were good.

This review does not address the product, but the seemingly unfair special sales policies at Amazon.com. We tried to contact Amazon about this but they have “streamlined” their help and contact menus so that you can no longer easily find a way to address issues with sales or product presentations.

This item was placed on sale at Amazon.com at 0300 AM, 30 September 2009, assuming west coast time provided by the message. We opened the email at 0830 AM and the item was already SOLD OUT. What does this mean? The item was apparently available at a rather decent early morning time for East coast buyers. West coast buyers presumably have access three hours or more behind other buyers back east. Otherwise, this means that very, very few numbers of this item were truly available for sale to begin with.

Could this be partially resolved by posting the sales at the same local time for each time zone?

The overall situation deserves one star or less.
