Machine constantly tells you to go the wrong way. You must have a general idea of where you need to go. Traffic warnings are the best feature. For a trucker GPS you would think it would give you location of weight stations.

Ok, first off I own this 465t and a tomtom. But this is about the 465t. Garmin has made a pretty good unit, but it still needs a quite of bit of work to be done. I live in northern illinois. I drive locally and regionally. What i have to say good about the 465t is I like how you can put in all your dimensions and hazmat if needed. And then “try to proceed with a truck route”. I have never tried this in the car mode, only truck mode. I have been on quite a few designated state truck highways with the 465t in the past 2 weeks. The problem I have encountered is the 465t is not reconiseing {sorry about my spelling} alot of the truck routes in my neck of the woods. Major ones like Route 41, Route 43 just for instance. When you are on these routes that are not reconised by the 465t and in or out of a route you have put into the 465t it will kick you out of your route and tell you it can not continue or caluate the route. I have contacted customer care at garmin about this and they were very apprecitive I have done so. If any one has problems as I have please do the same because they can’t fix what they don’t know about.Be suspecit about it, write down notes. The 465t is better then a gps with no truck mode. It has determined about bridge heights in chicago quite a few times. I do recommend this , but as always don’t put your life and lively hood on the line drivers with a piece of electronics. Remember D.O.T. wants your money. Use your head and a rand mcnally map too.

    Drivers,

I couldn’t wait for this “trucker specific” navigation unit to hit the shelves. I bought it the first day it came out, and it’s the most wasted $500 I have ever spent. Do yourself a favor, don’t buy this unit. You can get the same information with a much cheeper unit. This thing is very user unfriendly. The truck stop finder is awful. It’s like pulling teeth to find a major truck stop like a TA, Petro, Pilot, Love’s or Flying J. The warnings on this thing are the most annoying thing since “fingers on a chalk board”! The sharp curve warnings are a joke and VERY uneccessary, the scale warnings give you both sides of the highway, even though it is supposed to know which direction you’re traveling, and the worthless unit doesn’t even allow the option to turn these warnings off. I could go on and on about the waste of my hard earned money this new “navigation” unit is, but I have wasted enough on this thing already. I just hope that Garmin does something to make it right with the customers that have spent a fortune on this piece of junk and allow free software downloads of updated USEFULL features that will make this unit a true “trucker specific” navigation system and worth the money that they charge for a unit that doesn’t even come close to what I was hoping it would be.

While I agree this may be the best truck gps out their currently that by no means its a great or even a very good unit.

    Pros:

Give me a minute im still thinking of something…

    yea I got nothin……

Well Garmin maps for life maby.

    Cons:

Read other reviews I have not listed things that others have already listed such as the speed and weigh station and rest area issues, PLUS.

    NO miles to destination

NO general destination arrow pointing to the direction of your stop.

    NO accurate routing.

In one day it told me I was on a truck restricted road when I CLEARLY WAS NOT.

In tha same day it tried to tell me to turn onto a 5 ton weight restricted road and told me the road ahead had a weight rating to low for the truck I was in (the road in question was a main road I travel constantly and also goes through an industrial park full of trucks!

Keep in mind im a local driver in the Chicagoland area, these oversights and more was discovered in one 1 night of driving imagin how many errors are in the whole country, millions?

    NO THANKS

For $455.00 you would think Id be given accurate directions and a h*nd job on the way to the delivery but no…

MABY? the best unit out their but what does that mean?
